About TAKaya GOLF CENTRE

Ernie George the manager of Takaya Golf Centre was born, raised and attended his primary schooling on the North Shore of Vancouver . Following his father’s love of golf Ernie went to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Fairview College and graduated with a Diploma in Turfgrass Management Technology in 1988.

With 17 years experience in the turfgrass industry at well known facilities such as Swan-E-Set Bay Resort & Country Club, Meadow Gardens Golf Club and Fort Langley Golf Course, Ernie has acquired a great deal of knowledge of the golf industry.

During his many years learning his trade Ernie has helped raise 3 children in his Community of Tsleil – Waututh First Nation on the North Shore of Vancouver.

Ernie George will use his strong community ties and his acquired knowledge and leadership skills to manage the TAKaya Golf Centre and make it a profitable and sustainable community business on the North Shore of Vancouver.

The TAKaya golf Centre was created based on a recommendation from Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) Chief and Council and the TWN Economic Development Department, which manages the TWN businesses. TWN governing bodies have directed that TAKaya Golf Centre stay competitive in today’s marketplace. Being competitive includes providing a work environment that is fair and equitable for all employees, customers and suppliers.

While living in a constantly changing world it is important for TAKaya Golf Centre to stay ahead of the competition and managed in accordance with clear goals and objectives to meet new and existing challenges within the social context of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. A goal of TAKaya Golf Centre is to contribute to the economic sustainability of the community. In order to do that TAKaya Golf Centre has created a healthy business environment for the public golfers to “Swing with Nature”
